Dallas/Fort Worth Roundtable CSCMP
Better Lucky
than Smart?
Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 season of the DFW CSCMP Roundtable. From
a strategic standpoint, our programs this year couldn’t be more
timely. The global economy is forcing all of us to reconsider local
areas for assembly and distribution. Our focus will be on the North
Texas area as a leading supply chain hub in North America.
Sometimes, we lose focus on the benefits found right in our own
backyard—highways, railways, inland ports, major logistics
companies, Fortune 500 companies, etc.. We’ve got it all, and the
DFW CSCMP is going to perform an in-depth survey of it this year.
"I could say the supply chain design is now upside down," Procter &
Gamble's head of global supply, Keith Harrison, told The Financial
Times in June. "The environment has changed. Transportation cost is
going to create an even more distributed sourcing network than we
would have had otherwise." Steadily rising costs are forcing U.S.
businesses to rethink a core tenet of their corporate strategies -
the assumption that profits are always higher on the other side of
the world.
The switch from off-shoring to "in-sourcing" or
"near-shoring"—bringing production closer to end-consumers and
shortening transportation networks to cut fuel and transport
costs—is still more in its early stages. But in the long-term, the
trend could have enormous implications for the shippers, logistics
providers, forwarders, and transport operators responsible for
managing global supply networks.

Sponsorships
This year, we are offering a great opportunity for your company to
sponsor the Dallas/Fort Worth Roundtable. As you know, CSCMP’s
mission is to lead the evolving supply chain management profession
by developing, advancing, and disseminating supply chain knowledge
and research.
CSCMP also promotes supply chain careers at the college and
university levels. The DFW Roundtable does this on a local level
with monthly meetings. This opportunity will allow your organization
to support the meetings, tours, training seminars, and fund our
scholarship programs for supply chain majors at area universities
and colleges.
We need companies like yours to sponsor the CSCMP Roundtable.
If you are the person in your organization to make that decision,
please contact us for more information. If you know the person in
your organization, we would love an introduction or, the very least,
for you to give them the prospectus from the website.

This is an exciting opportunity to have you organization show its
support of the supply chain profession. Don't miss it!!

NEW Pricing Policy for 2007-2008
As we begin a new
program year filled with great speakers and exciting tours, the
Board of Directors wanted to let you know about our new pricing
policy. DFW CSCMP has deadlines that we have to meet with the OMNI
Hotel to ensure they have enough resources to continue to provide
our members with a great dining experience.
For attendance purposes, we must provide a firm headcount 72 hrs
prior to each dinner. Anything after that deadline will now be
considered a “Late Registration” and charged at a different rate
than the “Early Registration”. We apologize for any confusion we’ve
caused in this matter but just wanted to keep you informed. Below is
a pricing breakdown for the dinner meetings at the OMNI hotel. For
any questions, please contact DFW CSCMP Treasurer, Justin Dillard at
justin.t.dillard@lmco.com.
